It would make a perfect remote for the upcoming iTV. The current iPad seems a bit too large to function as a tv remote. The iPhone feels a bit to small to serve as a second screen remote to compliment the content being watched on the big screen. <br/> It dawned on me the other day. After reading so many articles by analysts and pundits proclaiming that Apple has to build a 7&#8221; iPad or lose the tablet market to Amazon and the rest of the pretenders. As usual they don&#8217;t understand Apple. Apple plans well ahead of the competition, it doesn&#8217;t react to what others bring to market. Other companies design for shareholders and checklist suits. So they come out with 5.3&#8221; phones. <br/> There&#8217;s one compelling reason to have a 7&#8221; iPad. That is for Apple to bundle it with the upcoming iTV. It would still be fully functional as an independent device but it&#8217;s main purpose would be as a remote for the Apple tv. It would handle the management of the big screen and other devices attached to it. Easily providing complimentary content related to programs being watched such as live sports. Being able to access background info or tweet about a game or show in real time. Having multiple screens available on the big screen could easily be handled remotely. All the while carrying on a FaceTime chat through the remote iPad. Siri is right there and the camera on the iPad is used for FaceTime. No need to have a camera or mic on the TV. <br/> Yes Apple will most likely make a smaller iPad but it won&#8217;t be as a reaction to any competitor. It will be part of the iTV package. The control for the big screen. The arms length camera and mic for Siri and FaceTime access. The content on the big screen. The one button remote in your hands.
